About the Galloper
Welcome to the Galloping Horse! The Galloping Horse has served the community of Harrington for over 150 years, originally as a resting place for weary travellers. Then it was surrounded by fields, farms and pastures and, as High Harrington grew, so as did the Pub with several additions, alterations and modifications made over the years.
Recently the Pub became a privately owned free-house for what we believe is the first time in
its history. The New Galloping Horse received a major renovation/expansion which was
completed in early 2017. Although time has moved on and at a time when village pubs struggle to survive, we aim to maintain and cherish the Galloper’s place in the heart of the community and continue with our traditional values of great home cooked food and hospitable service. We hope you enjoy your visit and we would dearly like you to feel that you are;
“Always Among Friends”
We would like to thank you so much for your valued custom.
The new pub has several distinct areas and here’s what we had in mind in dividing it up this way. This is YOUR pub and we hope you enjoy making these newly refurbished spaces your own.
Your new Galloping Horse is a great experience for everyone.

The craic, the bustle, the friendly bar staff, the Sky and BT Sports on the big screen;
Shannon’s Bar for us is about not forgetting our roots as a community drinkers pub. Hang out at the bar or have a comfortable seat at a table. Well-behaved dogs on leads can come too.
It’s the place for people to meet for a quick one on the way home or for one of many on a night out. Snacks, nibbles and pizzas can also be ordered here from 5pm-9pm in the week and from 12noon to 9pm at weekends.
NB! Under the terms of our licence, children are not allowed in Shannon’s, although they are very welcome in the rest of the pub.
A comfy area of the pub with curved sofas perfect for gathering round the table, feature copper lamps and classy artwork;
Wuky’s Nook is the place to relax over a long conversation and a barrista coffee, a glass of fine wine or a pint of real ale. You can enjoy meals from our main menu here too of course.
Our Thursday night pub quiz happens here too and it’s also a great place to have your private party.
Wuky’s Nook, a quieter zone away from the bustle of the bar but still in the heart of things.
Just what it says on the tin!
The place to eat at a proper table; with quiet corners for an intimate dinner, upholstered booths and flexibly sized tables; for couples, for families, for groups of friends small and large.
We are now serving food daily (currently for prebooked tables only, please note); see the menu and food service times and don’t forget to check out our specials boards.
You’re welcome to use any reserved table before the booked time but please be prepared to find another seat when we need it back.
